About Vintage Clothing

Generally speaking, clothing which was produced before the 1920s is referred to as antique clothing and clothing from the 1920s to 1960s is considered vintage.[citation needed] Retro, short for retrospective, or "vintage style" usually refers to clothing that imitates the style of a previous era. Reproduction, or retro, clothing is a newly-made but faithful copy of an older garment. Clothing produced more recently is usually called modern or contemporary fashion. Opinions vary on these definitions. Most vintage clothing has been previously worn, but a small percentage of pieces have not. These are often old warehouse stock, and more valuable than those that have been worn, especially if they have their original tags. Referred to as deadstock or new old stock (NOS), they nevertheless sometimes have flaws. Although there has always been some demand for old and/or second hand clothing, the awareness, demand and acceptance of this has increased dramatically since the early 1990s. This increase in interest is due in part to increased visibility, as vintage clothing was increasingly worn by top models and celebrities, e.g. Julia Roberts, Renée Zellweger, Chloe Sevigny, Tatiana Sorokko, Kate Moss, and Dita von Teese. There has also been an increasing interest in environmental sustainability in terms of reusing, recycling and repairing rather than throwing things away. A resurgence of historically based sub-cultural groups like rockabilly and swing dancing has also played a part in the increased interest in vintage clothes. At times, the cycle of fashion design turns to history for inspiration, and garments closely resembling original vintage (retro or antique) clothing are manufactured. An example of this is the simple slip dresses that emerged in the early 1990s and were based on undergarments of the 1930s. These styles are generally referred to as "vintage style", "vintage inspired" or "vintage reproductions" depending on the faithfulness to the historical design, and serve as a convenient alternative to those who admire an old style but prefer a modern interpretation - another advantage is that, unlike the original garments, they are usually available in a range of sizes and perhaps, colours and/or fabrics.

Just got back from Chicago

I went on a quick trip to Chicago and just got back tonight. I left early on Thursday and luckily had pretty much no problems getting there safely. They were calling for 4-8" of snow, I thought for sure I would have some delays or problems, but I ended up there just fine. I know a lot of other flights got delayed, but I was lucky. My $130 taxi ride was a little slick though. I went to work early this morning, the roads were not too bad, even though it was Friday the 13th!! My flight was delayed an hour, but I am not complaining, I am just glad I made it home and was not stuck there. I will be heading to Atlanta on Tuesday! In the meantime I am going to try to get some more Vintage Clothing up on my Revampdcouture Etsy shop. Make sure you check it out!! Also I added a little preview of the items to the right of my page for easy access. Ohh and like my Revamped Couture Facebook Page. Here are a few items I will be adding soon!!!

Some things I have Wrote

So close to yesterday, so far away from today!

I have loved, I have lost.
I have seen my whole world scattered away in the dust.
I’ve been strong, I’ve been weak.
I’ve been swept right off my feet.
I’ve cried, I’ve laughed
I’ve thought it would never last.
I’ve lost faith, I’ve gotten hope.
I’ve lost everything before.
I’ve seen and I’ve been blind
But I have LIVED!!

They say when you find the one “you just know”
Then you wonder whether you should stay or go
Crazy Passionate, Love
Things you would Die for
Often push you down on the floor
Wanting to get that high one more time
It’s not always perfect
The best things in life
Sometimes you have to work for
Things can’t always be easy
Then you are wishing for
Just one more chance
To start all over again.
Cause you know it will be worth it in the end
Feelings like this don’t happen everyday
So baby hold on,
It’s going to be a bumpy ride
But with you by my side
It will all be worth it

A guarded heart I carry with me
I close my eyes so I can't see
Love if it's in front of me.
Some of the most beautiful things break
And I have been falling deeper and deeper
Away from anyone who tries to catch me.
Running like a wild horse
Free and strong
Away from the person who could tame me down.
A gypsy soul just finding my way
And living day by day
Alone in this big ole world
Just getting by
Because the thought of loving and losing once more
Is too much to bare.
It's taken me this long to build myself up to where I am
And I don't need to fall to the ground again.
They say it is better to have loved and lost
But it's better to lose without knowing love.
For if you truly love someone it never dies
Even if they do.
So now I give you the reason for my withdraw
Please don't take it to your heart.
For I can't love you or anyone anymore.
